Why the best-selling Barbie movies are worth it to buy, new research shows

Top-selling dolls from Barbie to Princess Leia are among the most popular toys for kids in the U.S. as the country gears up for the 2020 Census.
The U.K.-based toy maker, which sells more than 200 million dolls in the United States annually, said Thursday it will sell the top three movies in 2020 to the U-S.
In a blog post, Barbie’s CEO, Lisa Whelan, said that Barbie was able to sell more than one million movies for a total of $1.9 billion for its first full year of sales in 2020.
The company has been aggressively increasing its sales to increase sales of its dolls in a country where many people can’t afford to buy or rent them.
But, she added, sales are slowing down in other categories, such as books, DVDs and video games.
A key focus in the new study was the impact of the 2020 census on toys sales.
While many toys from the past year were sold out, that trend could change, Whelansaid.
“This could also mean that some toys will start to become more popular as more of them hit the market,” she said.
